Obituary for Shirlie Biggs

Shirlie Biggs 85 of Platte City, MO passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Shirlie was born October 4, 1931 in Memphis, MO to Morris Ashley and Roxibelle (Kaser) Walker. She was a 1949 graduate of the Memphis High School. Shirlie married Joedd Biggs on July 14, 1950 in Memphis. She lived in Monticello, MO before moving to Platte City in 1969. Shirlie worked for Rural Electric Cooperative, later known as Platte Clay Electric, and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Platte City. She enjoyed knitting, sewing and making porcelain dolls. Shirlie was preceded in death by: her husband; her parents; 3 brothers Kenneth, William and Joseph Walker; a sister Alice White; and a grandson Tom Brooks. She is survived by: her children Judy (Steve) Crull of Belton, MO, Beverly Pierce of Platte City, Nancy (Jeff) Moore of Shawnee, KS, Stanley (Carmen) Biggs of Independence, MO, and Rita Kay (Mark) Mock of Platte City; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 5 great, great grandchildren; and her brother Morris “Mike” Walker of Memphis, MO; her sister Mary Ann Foley of Springfield, MO. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 6, at the United Methodist Church of Platte City. Inurnment of the cremains will take place in the Platte City Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests contributions be given to the United Methodist Church of Platte City.
