Obituary for Elsie Dianne Gilmore

Elsie Dianne Gilmore, 72, passed away Monday, March 28, 2016 at her home in Leavenworth, KS. A visitation will be held 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 1, at the Faith Evangelistic Center of Leavenworth, KS. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 2, at the church. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Weston, MO. The family suggests contributions be given the Faith Evangelistic Center. Elsie was born October 15, 1943 in Wichita, KS to James Winfred and Leola Eveline (Wittsell) Spurgeon. She attended Smithville High School, and later Trenton Junior College. Elsie lived in many places during her life, including: Des Moines, K.C., MO, Rushville, MO, Trenton, MO, and finally Leavenworth, for the past 10 years. She married Paul Matthew Gilmore on November 28, 1993 in Leavenworth; and was a member of the Faith Evangelistic Center. Elsie was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, camping and fishing. She also loved to watch John Wayne and Elvis movies. Elsie was preceded in death by: her parents; a brother Jamie Spurgeon; and a sister Marilyn Breckenridge. She is survived by: her husband Paul of the home; 3 sons Glenn Franklin Mowery III, and his wife Glenda, of K.C., KS, David Charles Mowery of K.C., KS, and Herald Leroy Kelley Jr. and wife Stacey of St. Joseph, MO; 3 daughters Sandra Kaye Brogan, and husband Bill of Eminence, MO, Deborah Irene Underwood, and husband Donald of Leavenworth, and Krystal Arlene Teichmann, and husband Christopher of Lenexa, KS; 2 brothers Charles of Trenton, MO, and Paul Daniel Spurgeon of Kearney, MO; 5 sisters Jeanene Buscher of Chandler, AZ, Sharon Lawhorn of Smithville, MO, Rita Seal, and husband Thomas of Guthrie, OK, Martha Thompson, and husband Bob of N.K.C., MO, and Carolyn Day, and husband Bobby of K.C., KS, 25 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 10 great, great grandchildren.
