James Michael Savina, 69 of Platte City, MO passed away July 19, 2017 at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Jim was born November 1, 1947 in Amherst, OH to Alexander Walter and Mary Lenore (Isold) Savina. He was raised in the Amherst area, and was a 1966 graduate of the Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst, OH, later attending the Lorain County Community College. Jim worked as a sales representative for the commercial food processing equipment industry, including Bettsher Industries in Birmingham, OH. Jim lived for several years in Arizona with his second wife, later moving to the Platte City area due to her declining health. He attended the XII Apostles Catholic Church of Platte City. Jim married Shih-Ying Chen on March 2, 2017 in Parkville, MO. He enjoyed gardening and yardwork, and in his earlier years, enjoyed playing golf. He was preceded in death by: his parents; and his second wife Elizabeth A. Savina. Jim is survived by: his first wife Marsha Duray Shoulter of Wakeman, OH; his present wife Shih-Ying Chen, of the home; 1 son David M. (Traci) Savina of Collins, OH, 4 daughters Michelle (Brent) Folmer of Edgarton, WI, Faith (Will) Vance of Goodyear, AZ, Mary Savina of Gardner, KS, and Lorri Stover of Anthony, NM; 3 brothers Allen James (Audrey) Savina of Amherst, OH, Robert Walter Savina of New York City, NY, and Martin Andrew (Patty) Savina of Mullica Hill, NJ; 2 sisters Lenore Savina (Howard Craig) Shaffer of Blufftom, SC, and JoAnne M. Savina (Bernard) Kucek of Medina, OH; 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and 2 step grandchildren. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 24, 2017 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City; followed by an 11:00 funeral service. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Weston. The family suggests contributions be given to the XII Apostles Catholic Church of Platte City.
