Alice LaVerne Wendleton, 78, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at her home in Iatan, MO. Alice was born March 14, 1938 in Weston, MO to Jewell Lee and Eva Jane (Russell) Anderson; and remained a lifelong resident of the Weston area. She spent her working life raising tobacco in the Weston area, and as a homemaker. Alice married her first husband, Floyd Harris, who preceded her in death. She later married Ronald R. Wendleton, who also preceded her in death. Alice was an active member of the Iatan Village Board and took pride in being a volunteer for the Red Cross. She enjoyed hairstyling, and in her earlier years, was an avid fan of car racing, water skiing, and CB radios. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husbands; 2 step children Joseph Guyer III and Phyllis Koch; a great granddaughter Cady; a great grandson Brian; and a brother Kenneth Anderson. Alice is survived by: her daughter Loretta Berry of Lakeland, FL; her sons Floyd (Dianna) Harris Jr. of Iatan, MO, and Lloyd (Vicky) Harris of Weston; step children Steven Cameron, Kenneth Guyer and Alan Guyer; her grandchildren Elijah, Kaylee, Jake “P.J.”, Sydnee, Billy Jo, Christy, Alice, Wendi, and Joshua; numerous great grandchildren; brothers Jim and David Anderson; sister Bonnie Faudere; nieces and nephews that she raised as her own Rick Anderson, Mary McCoy, Ruth Anderson, David Douglas Anderson; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Weston. The family suggests contributions be given to the American Red Cross.
