Mark Anthony Yanits, 37, of Platte City, MO passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015. A visitation will be held 11:30 – 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City, MO; immediately followed by an 12:30 p.m. funeral service, at the funeral home. Interment, with military honors will follow at the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS. The family suggests contributions be given to: Go Fund: “In Memory of Mark Yanits”. Mark was born January 7, 1978 in Latrobe, PA to Paul Anthony “Tony” Yanits and Mary Lou Shawley. He was raised in the Derry, PA area and was a 1996 graduate of the Derry Area High School. Mark then joined the U.S. Army, and served in Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Iraq. While in the military, he lived in Tennessee and Texas, and after his military service, Mark moved back to Pennsylvania, before moving to St. Joseph, MO, and finally Platte City. Mark was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He really enjoyed being at work, and was proud to be a driver for Platte County Ready Mix since November. He was particularly fond of spending time with his family, especially his daughters; and loved outdoor grilling and watching the PBR rodeos. Mark is survived by: his father: Tony Yanits of Edgerton, MO; his mother Mary Lou Shawley of Peanut, PA; 3 daughters Maggie, Julie, and Abbie Yanits, who now stay with Richard and Selena Yanits in Excelsior Springs, MO; 1 brother Matthew Yanits of Latrobe, PA; 1 ½ brother Sammy Shawley of Blairsville, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.
