Obituary for Charles O. "Chuck" Hill Jr.

Charles O. “Chuck” Hill, Jr. passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Chuck was born June 21, 1955 in Ontario, California to Charles Onas Hill Sr. and Anna Lucille (Ross) Hill. After graduating from North Platte High School in Dearborn, MO in 1973, Chuck joined the U.S. Army. He served during Desert Storm and retired as a Sergeant Major in 1995. He later earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Park University in Parkville, MO, and worked as a senior controller for Northrop Grumman at Fort Leavenworth, KS for 10 years. Chuck married Karla Damille Huber on October 10, 2010 in Ferrellview, MO. He was a member of the Platte City V.F.W., and was an active member of the Shriners, Masonic Lodge #53 A.F. & A.M. of Weston, MO, and the Scottish Rite of Kansas City. Chuck was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and traveling. He also had a passion for studying history, especially the Civil War Era. He was preceded in death by his parents. Chuck is survived by: his wife of the home; his children Charles O. “Charlie” (Danetta) Hill III, Christie Dawn (Matthew Jensen) Hill, Catherine Hope “Katie” (Chase Stewart) Hill, and Craig Storm Hill; his god son Peter Joseph Edwards; his granddaughters Alex Moody and Harlee Miller; his siblings Luann (Bill) Johnson, Kerry (Carla Brumitt) Hill, and Lori Hill; and his nephew Aaron (Shauna) Babbitt. Chuck was also survived by many extended family and friends and a loving support system which includes Linda Hill. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 3, 2017 at Rollins Funeral Home, with Masonic services at 10:45 a.m. Funeral services with military honors will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions can be given to the Masonic Lodge or the V.F.W. of Platte City.
