Obituary for Oliver F. "Jack" Coffey Jr.

Oliver F. “Jack” Coffey, Jr., 94, of Platte City, MO passed away Friday, August 25, 2017. Services will be Saturday, October 7, at Twelve Apostles Catholic Church, in Platte City, MO. Visitation from 10-11 am, Funeral Mass at 11 am.
Private internment in the Platte City Cemetery. The family requests contributions to: Heartstrings Community Foundation-7086 W. 105th St. Overland Park, KS 66212.
Jack was born January 15, 1923 in Kansas City MO to Oliver Franklin Coffey, Sr.
and Nelle (Batterson) Coffey. Jack graduated from Platte City high school and attended Northwest Missouri State College, Maryville, MO. He served as a Corporal in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Jack owned Coffey Oil and Propane for 22 years. From 1970-1986 Jack worked for Missouri Public Service in Platte City and Weston.
He married George Ann Ray on November 30, 1947 at the First Christian Church, Platte City, where they were members. In 1993 they became members of St. Therese Catholic Church. At the time of his death, Jack was a member of Twelve Apostles Catholic Church, Platte City, MO.
During their 60 year marriage, Jack and George Ann enjoyed many activities with treasured friends; couples bridge club, ham radio club, bowling league and creating craft items they shared with family and friends. Jack loved golf, playing until the age of 90. Their passion for the RV life led them to a four-year adventure as full-timers.
Jack was a life member of the VFW, Platte City Post 4055, a member of the Masonic Lodge of Platte City, a Shriner-Moila Shrine Temple in St Joseph, and a volunteer for Heartstrings Community Foundation. His favorite job was being a devoted father & grandfather, affectionately known as "Daddy Jack" to his family. Jack was preceded in death by: his parents, his wife, George Ann, and daughter, Margaret.
He is survived by: two daughters, Anne Hull, and husband, William M. "Mack" of Leawood KS, Carolyn Wallace, and husband John, of Ava, MO; six grandchildren, Gavin, Spence, and Grant Hull of Leawood KS, Lydia Wallace Ostmo and her husband Daniel, of Tulsa, OK, Kyle of Ava, Andrew of Columbia, MO and Elizabeth (Hull) Kleve Overland Park, KS. Jack was a fun-loving and giving person who generously shared his talents with everyone.
