Obituary for William Hansford Dunn Jr.

William Hansford Dunn, Jr. was born in Lawrence, Kansas on November 30, 1922. He passed away on July 16, 2016, at his home in Prairie Village. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Dunn and Mildred Popplewell Dunn, his sister Betty Mae McBride, and his brother, Dallas Popplewell Dunn. He is survived by Elizabeth Ann Dunn, his wife of 67 years, his brother John Bruce Dunn of Leawood, his sister Judith Glaspie of Oklahoma City, his son William F. Dunn of Kansas City, Kansas, his son John Thomas Dunn of Kansas City, Missouri, and his daughter, Catherine Ann Dunn of Valencia California. He also leaves his grandchildren, William Elliott Dunn of Prairie Village, Lauren Elizabeth Dunn of Wichita, Jack Turpin of Valencia, California, and Jake Turpin of Valencia, California. Bill was a member of Masonic Lodge 153 in Prairie Village. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, in both the European theatre and the Phillipines. He spent his working life in the building supply industry, working into his late eighties. He was a music lover, for a time playing trombone professionally. He took piano and arranging lessons until three weeks prior to his death. He was an enthusiastic golfer, and enjoyed many years as a member of the Hillcrest Country Club. Bill took great delight in fellowship with his family and friends, who will miss him dearly. A memorial service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on July 30, 2016, at the Old Mission Masonic Lodge in Prairie Village. A reception will follow immediately at the lodge.
