Obituary for Mel Johnson

Mel Johnson, 61, of Dearborn, MO passed away November 7, 2014, from an automobile accident. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Vaughn-Aufranc Funeral Home in Dearborn. Cremation and a memorial service will take place at a later date. The family suggests contributions be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, or Salvation Army. Mel was born August 2, 1953 in Anchorage, Alaska to Russell and Dorothea Malitta Victoria (Desch) Johnson. He attended Dundalk High School in Baltimore, MD; later attending the University of Texas El Paso. Mel married Tracy Lyn Nussbeck on November 24, 2001 in Kansas City, MO. He was of the Christian faith, loved spending time with his kids, and a member of the National Rifle Association. Mel worked mainly as a truck driver for various companies, most recently Spirit Miller of St. Joseph, MO; but also worked as a derrick hand in the oilfields, while in Texas. Over the years, he also lived in Chicago, Germany, Kansas City, and in Dearborn, for the last 10 years. Mel was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by: his wife Tracy, of the home; 2 sons Frasier of Dearborn, and Andrew of the home; 2 daughters Samantha (Morgan) Snider of St. Joseph, and Victoria Johnson of the home; 2 brothers Hans Rausch of FL, and Rickie Johnson of SC; and 1 sister Virginia (Ronnie) Hendrix of Blue Springs, MO.
