Obituary for Virginia Lee Offutt

Virginia Lee Offutt, 81, of Kansas City, MO passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 at Menorah Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 25, 2016 at Holmes Wood Baptist Church in Kansas City; followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service at the church. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery in Weston, MO. Memorial contributions can be given to: Holmes Wood Baptist Church, or Graceland Cemetery Association, or to Lion’s World Services for the Blind, Little Rock, AR. Virginia was born July 2, 1935 in Jonesburg, MO to Elmer W. and Lillian V. (Fleahman) Smith. She married Kenneth M. Offutt on February 11, 1972 in St. Louis, MO. Virginia earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Missouri Valley College. She worked for the state of Missouri as a rehabilitation teacher for the blind. Virginia was a devoted member of the Holmeswood Baptist Church, and the Red bridge Lioness Club of K.C., MO. She enjoyed being a Missouri Lion’s Pin Trader. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Kenneth. She is survived by: cousins Elaine Barnhill of Weldon Springs, MO, and her sons and families, and husband Roger; Nina Brendel of St. Louis, MO; and Joyce Johnson of Chicago; numerous 2nd & 3rd cousins; sister in law Linda Graves of Weston; brother in law Ned Offutt and wife Kay, and their daughters Evelyn and Gail (Ron); a great nephew; and a great niece.
