Obituary for Jackie Jo Rampton

JACKIE JO RAMPTON

Jackie Jo Rampton, 74, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016 at her home in Platte City, MO with her family present.
Jackie was born May 25, 1941 to Richard Rex and Edna Ann (Brown) Dick in Corvallis, Oregon. As a youth she excelled in the 4-H program and won many awards. Following high school, she graduated from Oregon State University and on March 15, 1963, married James Henry Rampton. She and her family lived in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Massachusetts, while James acquired more education for a Phd. Jackie taught High School for a time and then assumed the role of a full-time mother to raise seven children. She was very active as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church organizational capacities. She also loved to garden and to teach her children and grandchildren about gardening, music, and the Savior. As a friend to many and ever sensitive to the needs of others, she set a wonderful example of a woman of compassion and integrity for all her knew her. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James, and son Benjamin. She is survived by her sons Richard (Carol) of Lake Island, IL., Samuel (Lili) of Portland, OR., John of Portland, OR., Daniel of Leavenworth, KS., and Rex (Sara) of St. Louis, MO., and one daughter Beth (Charles) of Manahawkin, NJ, 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Also still living are her two sisters, Penny (Tom) Schmadeka and Sally (Gerold) Lehman. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2700 Ensign Dr., Platte City, MO., at 3:00 pm on April 16, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Missionary Fund are preferred. Arrangements by Rollins Funeral Home, Platte City, Missouri. www.rollinsfuneralhome.net
