Obituary for Kenneth Lee Lykins

KENNETH LEE LYKINS
Kenneth Lee Lykins, 93, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2019 at the North Care Hospice, N.K.C., MO. Kenneth was born June 24, 1926 in DeKalb, MO to Marion and Edith (Carter) Lykins. He was of the Baptist faith, and lived in the Weston, MO area, until moving to Kansas City in 1962. Kenneth proudly served his country during World War II as a rifleman and truck driver in the U.S. Army, earning the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon, Victory, and Good Conduct Medals. He married Dorothy Jean Bramble on March 21, 1953 in Weston. Together, they enjoyed fishing, attending garage sales, visiting with neighbors and travelling in their R.V. Kenneth spent his working life farming, and as an aircraft mechanic for TWA, retiring in 1986 after 27 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers Harlan and William Lykins; a sister Arlene Hontz; and his wife Dorothy Jean Lykins. Kenneth is survived by his sister Betty Guy; 2 sons Kenneth (Jacki) Lykins, and Daniel (Stacie) Lykins; 3 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Vaughn Funeral Home in Weston; followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service. Interment, with military honors, will follow at the Platte City Cemetery, Platte City, MO.
