Obituary for Lynn Babcock

Lynn Babcock, 72, of Platte City, MO, passed away at his home Sunday, April 24, 2022. Lynn was born February 28, 1950, in Leavenworth, KS to Leonard Earl and Dorothy Dean (Babcock) Babcock. He was raised in the Parkville, MO area; and was a 1968 graduate of the Platte City High School. Lynn began his working career as a delivery driver for Ferrellgas; later, starting his career with Missouri Public Service, retiring around 2012. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Platte City, where he served as deacon, served on the property committee, helped with the Potato Bake to raise money for charitable causes, and generally just loved serving his church family. Lynn served as a volunteer firefighter in the 70’s, was a past Platte City Alderman, and was presently serving as commissioner for the special road district. He was also a member of the Platte County Steam Engine Association, provided and cooked for the breakfast club, and was very proud member of the “Male Room”. Lynn was also well known in his community by pulling Santa’s sleigh and transporting people at the Platte County Fairgrounds with his antique tractor “Little Dorothy”; and he helped many of his friends and neighbors by providing meals, and tilling gardens. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son Andrew (Karen) Babcock of Jacksonville, FL; 2 granddaughters Emily and Kayla; 2 sisters Kathy Stanley of Platte City, and Chris Eaton of Liberty, MO; and his nephews. A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2022, at the First Christian Church of Platte City; followed by an 11:00 a.m. memorial service. Interment will follow at the Farley-Hampton Cemetery in Platte City. Memorial contributions can be given to the First Christian Church of Platte City.
