Obituary for Margaret Ann "Peggy" Palmer (Coots)

Margaret Ann “Peggy” Palmer, born January 8, 1936 and passed way September 26, 2022.
Peggy was born and lived her entire life in Platte City, Missouri. She was always proud to call Platte City her home and so glad to be back home after any travels. She graduated from Platte City High School in 1954 where she participated in many activities. Peggy was born to John W Coots Jr. and Margaret Ann (Gerner) Coots who were also long time Platte City residents and she had a twin brother, John W “Jack” Coots III. As you can imagine they had a busy household with each sibling teasing, toying and challenging the other in many things. Peggy had Polio as a child that affected her throughout her life but she didn’t let that keep her down. Peggy did a couple of years of college and then got an office position with TWA. She met her husband Gene, and they married August 31, 1957 on an elopement trip to Miami, Oklahoma. Peggy worked for several years as a Secretary in the Platte County Probate Court, and the Assessor’s Office, where she made many friends. Peggy loved spending time doing short trips with her family and couple’s trips with her husband and their friends. She was involved in several bridge club groups which she greatly enjoyed. She was most happy with family in her house. She loved making the large holiday dinners and spending time with her family. Peggy was an amazing and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt. She was proceeded in death by her Father, Mother and twin brother. She is survived by her husband Gene, children John (Sherrie) Palmer, Stan (Sheila) Palmer and grandchildren Erin(David) Burnette, Nick (Abby) Palmer expecting child soon and Maggie Palmer, great grandchildren Ethan and Parker Burnette; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Following cremation, a graveside memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Platte City Cemetery, Platte City MO. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Platte City Christian Church.
