Obituary for Rebecca Ann Rooney (Johnson)

Rebecca Ann Rooney (nee Johnson) passed away following a series of heart attacks she suffered over the span of several days. She was released from her suffering on 21 October, 2022; one year to the day after her husband, Jim Rooney passed.
Rebecca was born in Houston, Texas to Albert S. Johnson, Jr and Gerda Wellman Johnson on 17 January 1957. This Alabaman petroleum engineer and his German wife then began their nomadic, decades long trek, beginning in Puerto Rico, through Texas, West Virginia, the Netherlands, Belgium, England and Scotland. Rebecca attended Texas A&M University for a couple of years until her husband, Steven Tutschke and she welcomed their sons Michael and Christopher into their lives. After several years and as a single parent, she left Houston for Leavenworth with her sons, where she moved in with her sister Barbara and her family. This led to being introduced to and marrying Jim Rooney and joining Barbara in Weston. Rebecca received her nursing degree from Kansas City Kansas Community College and pursued her nursing career.
Rebecca was committed to serving her community. She has served in the past as Weston City Alderman and Health Board Trustee. She was currently serving on the Board for the Developmentally Disabled and the Domestic Violence Board. She was also an elected Committee Woman to the Platte County Republican Central Committee, she was the current Chairwoman, and in the past has served as Vice Chairwoman and Secretary. In addition to all her volunteer positions she was also a member of the Platte County Federated Republican Women, Northwest Missouri Republicans and the Pachyderms. Even after Jim’s untimely death, Rebecca continued her involvement in her community.
Her final act of giving was in being an organ donor to those in need. God Bless her.
She is survived by son Michael and his husband Aaron, son Christopher and his husband Chris, brother Eric Johnson and his wife Patricia, sister Barbara and her husband Daniel Karis and nieces and nephews Nicole and Derek Lyne, Brian Johnson, Alyssa Johnson Snellings and Daniel Johnson.
