Joan Carolyn Crnic, 89, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, at NorthCare Hospice in North K.C., MO. She was born May 1, 1933, in Kansas City, KS to Cristain Adam and Mary Kathryn (Tillisch) Theroff. Joan entered the workforce early and met her future husband John while working for TWA. They married on May 7, 1955, in K.C., KS. The couple bought a farm in Platte City, MO; where they enjoyed raising their 5 children, and many animals, including sheep and cattle. Throughout her early years as a homemaker, Joan managed to earn her bachelor’s degree in art history. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son John Jr.; and her sister Rosemary Copenhaver. Joan is survived by her daughters Jan (Charles) Miller, and Patricia (Robert); her sons Guy, and Paul (Jacqueline); her daughter in law Melanie; her brothers Crist Jr. (Pat), and Donald (Judy); her sister Lois (Steve) Imm; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. A private family graveside service will take place Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the Holy Angels Cemetery in Basehor, KS. Memorial contributions can be given to the charity of one’s choice.
