Obituary for Joseph Dee Lunt

Joseph Dee Lunt, 83 formerly of Platte City, MO, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at North K.C. Hospital. Joe was born October 21, 1939, in Grandview, MO to Everil Allen and Hannah Lee (Garrett) Lunt. He attended school in Lone Jack, MO. Joe married Sharon Kay Reynolds on January 27, 1961, in Lee’s Summit, MO. He served his country as a hospital medic in the U.S. Army from 1961 – 1963. Joe later served in the National Guard Until 1976; worked at Fairview Farms in Platte County; and afterwards, worked for the City of Platte City for 20 years. He also worked as a skycap for American Airlines and worked
at McCormick Distilling in Weston from 2005 – 2015. Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church of Platte City. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Sharon. He is survived by his 4 children Tracy (Mike) Large, Ron (Cheri)
Lunt, Jerry (Judy) Lunt and Jayme Lunt; 7 grandkids Dusty (Ali) Kossen, Cody Kossen, Jenna Lunt, Kyle Lunt, Ryan Lunt,
Garrett (Summer Large), Erica (Colt) Goodwin; 2 great-grandkids Chip Frey and Whitt Kossen; 1 brother Martin Lunt;
2 brothers-in-law Jim (Cindy) Reynolds, and John (Shirley) Reynolds; 1 sister-in-law Shirley Reynolds (J.C. Schrutchfield); and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe always had a smile and a story to tell. He loved watching the wildlife near his home and gardening. Following cremation, A Celebration of Life is planned by Joe’s family upcoming in June with inurnment At Rose Hill Cemetery in Latour, MO. Updates will be posted on the funeral home website. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association in Joe’s memory.
