Alberta May Perkins Toy, age 86, met her blessed Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 4, 2017. Alberta was born to Charles and Maude Perkins on November 25, 1930, in rural Platte County, MO. She grew up in Weston, MO, and graduated from Weston High School in 1948. Alberta married Paul Ellis Toy on January 7, 1955, and enjoyed 57 years of marriage before Paul passed away in November, 2013. Paul and Alberta were faithful members of the body of Christ, worshipping Him at the Weston Christian Assembly Church in Weston, MO. Together, Paul and Alberta provided loving attention to children, especially those who were raised in the church. Alberta always had a song in her heart. She led the congregational singing and directed the children’s Christmas program for years. She taught generations of children as a Sunday School teacher and youth leader, and led children’s choir for decades. Her natural and church family benefited from the many ways Alberta showed love and affection, not the least of which were her pea salad, cherry pie, and fried chicken. Alberta supported Paul in his long career with Besel’s Home Improvement Company in Leavenworth, Kansas. They were longtime residents of Weston, and for many years their house was decorated for the seasons. Alberta was preceded in death by her parents; sister Anna Margaret Perkins and brother Charles Glenn Perkins; and dear husband Paul. She is survived by her beloved sister Cora Lee Toy, nephews, nieces and extended family and a host of loving church family and friends. A visitation will be held at Vaughn Funeral Home, 18905 State Route 45 North, Weston, MO, 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9th, with a memorial service immediately following at 11 am. Interment will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Donations should be made to Christian Assembly Church, 501 Washington St., Weston, MO 64098.
